Lighthouse 2024: A Glorious Christmas in Summer
A huge shout-out to all the volunteers who made Lighthouse 2024 in Princes Risborough a reality!
What a glorious week it's been! With the theme of Christmas in summer, tinsel and Christmas trees basked in wonderful sunshine, delighting children as they celebrated their favourite time of year.
Set in an idyllic location, the large white tents provided cool shelter, offering a refreshing escape from the classroom and the sun. The big top was a hub of excitement, filled with delighted screams as the eclectic mix of theater, gunging, and rock pop entertainment captivated everyone.
Outdoor sports were a major hit, with the football pitch buzzing with keen wannabes inspired by England's success in the Euro Cup. Parachutes fluttered in the wind, creating a magical scene as younger children ran and giggled underneath. The crafting tent, as always, was a lively hub of glitter glue and laughter.
Mini Lighthouse was in full swing, providing fantastic summer entertainment for preschoolers and a welcome coffee and chat for the mums. With a full crib featuring a star and manger, Christmas paint, and obligatory play-dough, it was wonderful to see the little ones play happily within earshot of their older siblings.
What makes Lighthouse so special is the way it fosters multi-generational learning. Children looking after children. Assistant Two was delighted to be reunited with an old school friend who had moved on to big school last year. Like a long-lost cousin, they were met with a huge hug, followed by laughter and giggles. Molly, thank you for being there for the boys – we all love you!
